JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Door, Custom + Drawer Department Team Member

Job Status: Non-Exempt – Hourly

Rate of Pay: $22-$28 DOE

Position Summary

Door and Custom Department team members are responsible for the high-quality construction of cabinet doors, dovetail drawers and custom cabinetry items.

Essential Duties include (but are not limited to)

  • Determine product specifications and materials, work methods and machine setup requirements, according to blueprints, oral or written instructions, drawings or work orders.

  • Start machines, adjust controls, and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properly.

  • Feed stock through feed mechanisms or conveyors into planing, shaping, boring, mortising, or sanding machines to produce desired components.

  • Set up, program, operate or tend to computerized or manual woodworking machines, such as drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, wood-nailing machines and specifically the Selco-Saw.

  • Select knives, saws, blades, cutter heads, cams, bits, or belts, according to work piece, machine functions or product specifications.

  • Examine finished work pieces for smoothness, shape, angle, depth-of-cut, or conformity to specifications and verify dimensions, visually and using hands, rules, calipers, templates, or gauges.

  • Install and adjust blades, cutter heads, boring-bits, or sanding-belts, using hand tools and rules.

  • Inspect and mark completed work pieces and stack carts.

  • Assist with custodial tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down machines and keeping floors and work stations clean.

  • General customer service activities, i.e. follow-up, problem resolution, warranty, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Comply with all Company, OSHA, and WISHA safety standards.

Qualifications                                                

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of how to use a tape measure and understanding of metric system

  • Knowledge of wood species

  • Knowledge of and experience working with woodworking equipment such as saws, routers, sanders, moulders, etc.

  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced manufacturing environment.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

  • Positive, collaborative, team-oriented attitude

  • Able to accept feedback, both positive and negative.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
